It can be frustrating to find your insurance listed as inactive while you are enrolled in COBRA. If this happens, please follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
1. Verify Your Payment Status
Insurance carriers cannot provide coverage unless the monthly premium has been received.
Check your records: Ensure the payment for the current month has been successfully processed.
Make a payment: If you missed a payment, please submit it immediately through the Member Portal. Once the full premium is received, your account will be updated.
Note: You must be caught up on all previous payments, in addition to the current month, to avoid an "Inactive" status.
2. Contact Customer Service
If you have confirmed that your payments are up to date but are still showing as inactive:
Reach out to us: Contact our Participant Services team at 888-722-1223 or email info@rmrbenefits.com.
The Reinstatement Process: We will send an urgent "reinstatement request" to your insurance carrier to refresh your status in their system.
3. Plan Ahead for Appointments
Because processing times for reinstatements vary significantly between insurance companies (e.g., Cigna, Kaiser, UHC), we strongly recommend verifying your active status with your insurance carrier at least 3–5 business days before any scheduled medical or dental appointments.
