COBRA for Divorced Spouses and Dependent Children

COBRA was designed to serve a wide variety of needs resulting from loss of insurance. Some divorces allow spouses and dependent children to continue using their previous spouse's employer-based insurance. The process is similar to the normal COBRA Election Process. However, the divorced spouse and dependent child may be covered for up to 36 months, instead of the standard 18.
