Merchant Category Codes (MCC) are four-digit numbers that are assigned by credit card issuers (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) to merchants. These numbers are used by the card issuers to categorize transactions that consumers complete. Your benefits debit card is accepts limited merchant category codes.
